5 Ways To Get Through Hardships And Thrive

Achieving outstanding success in life is not an easy task. Many times, you will have to go through a lot of hardships, rejections, adversity, and obstacles in order to achieve the things that you want.

And overcoming hardships is one of the most important keys to accomplish great things. So learn how to get through the hard times when they come, and trust me, they will come when you expect them the least.

If you know how to handle tough times, you will have no problem creating outstanding results like other successful people did, because you will learn how to be persistent.

5 Principles To Get Through Hardships And Thrive

It Shall Come To Pass

You have to understand that things will never stay the same forever. Things will change. And so will the hard times that you are going through right now. Once the tough times are gone, the great times will come. Life is like a pulse, a cycle of up an downs and if there are no ups and downs it means that you are not living.

Therefore, you should tell yourself that “it shall come to pass”. Whatever you are going through right now, be it good times or bad times, they will come and go.

You have to learn to dance in the rain because you know that it is just a normal life cycle that is unavoidable. You know that rain will just go somehow. Conversely, when it is great sunny day, you have to keep on innovating, improving and to prepare yourself for the rainy days that will come.

You Create Your Own Success

This is where most people get it wrong. Most people think that if they haven’t achieved their goals or dreams that they are failures.

You have to change your mindset about this. Let me give you an example. If your goal is to build a profitable business that earns you $1 million a year, and you spend 5 years into building the business to reach the $1 million mark, are you not successful in the first 4 years in the business?

You work hard and keep improving your business until you reach $1 million mark in the fifth year, but do you consider yourself successful in the first year, the second year, the third and the fourth year?

Can you skip the first four years and reach your goal instantly? You can’t. The first 4 years will be the reason why you will reach the $1 million mark in the fifth year. Therefore, even if you are have not reached out your goal in the timeframe that you gave yourself you shouldn’t consider yourself a failure as long as you keep improving that means you are moving forward.

You have to understand that the real definition of success is that as long as you are working toward your goal and are moving toward it each day, you are successful. You don’t have to wait until you earn $1 million only to see yourself as successful.

Thus, when tough times come, remember that  –  As long as you are moving forward, you are a success and you will eventually reach your destination.

It Is A Journey

Success is a journey, not a destination. Most people never really put any thoughts about this. You have to know that money, fame or skills that you attain  are the byproducts from your journey.

It is who you become that is most important in the end. And because success is a journey, failure and setbacks are unavoidable. It is said that failure is not the opposite of success, but instead failure is a vital part of success. You cannot get the success you want without going through adversity.

Tough times and hardship are the things that will make you successful. Bruce Lee once said, “Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.”

So be flexible and learn from your setbacks, rejections, failures, obstacles and hardships. They have something to teach you.

Remember Your Purpose

When you are feeling down and demotivated remember your purpose. Remember why you do it in the first place and you will be able to bounce back with motivation and energy.

If your purposes are not driving you and motivating you, then perhaps your purposes are just not strong and emotional enough. You have to have a strong and emotional purpose that will drive you and make you jump out of bed.

And if your purpose does not motivate you, you should rediscover your purpose. Most people fail to achieve their goals and reach their dreams because they don’t have a purpose.

Just like if you want to quit smoking, if your reason to quit smoking is not strong and emotional enough, most likely you will never succeed. But when your purpose means a lot to you, you will have the drive to stop smoking. For example if they told you that you will die in an year if you keep smoking – will you continue to do it? You probably will.

Hence, develop strong and emotional purposes for your goals and your dreams. Seriously ask yourself why you want to achieve what you want. And when you have clarity in your purpose, nothing can stop you, not even the hard times ahead.

Never Give Up

If Michael Jordan gave up, we wouldn’t have known who he was, but now the whole world knows who he is. You have to persist and adopt the attitude of never give up.

As long as you never give up, you have a chance to win because you are still in the game. When tough times come, don’t give up. It may be easier said than done, but you have to persist and continue with the journey if you truly desire to reach your end destination.

When you feel like giving up, just look back at the journey and realize how far you have come and how much effort you have poured in. The moment you give up, all your hard work and all the time you spend into the journey will go to drain. So just persist and move on.

Remind yourself that great things take time to produce, so don’t give up.

Remember, hard times will never last forever.
