How to Ignite Your Inner Mental Power

Your mind, when you trust it, is your friend that reassures you, comforts you and gives you confidence.” – Elizabeth Upton

How do you keep going when you feel as if you’ve reached the end? We all experience road blocks, setbacks, challenges and frustrations on this beautiful journey that we call life, although sometimes we can make mountains out of molehills inside of our minds.

To keep moving forward when the going gets tough, the best way to pull through is to ignite the fire of your inner strength and find your mental power. What do I mean by that?

Igniting Your Inner Mental Power

So what is mental power, or mental strength? It’s the idea of standing firm amongst the drama of adversity, and finding the inner patience to stay clear and centered. Practicing mental strength means holding steady to the vision of your goals and making realistic decisions that advance your cause.

Mental power is the ability to think clearly and put all parts of a problem together. It provides the fortitude to integrate your energies in order to achieve more. This power is not related to your intellect; rather it is the rich combination of your life experiences and your enduring common sense.

With mental strength, you give your mind and your emotions all of the credit for your achievements by listening to your intuitive self and trusting your evolving insights. By doing this, you will be able to assess what is important to you before making rash decisions. The more you ask your inner self for answers, the more mental strength you develop and the easier it will be for those answers to come.

Encouraging “I Can Do It” Power

I truly believe in the healing power of your own mental strength. Your mind has incredible abilities to push you through bad times and you’ll find that you’ll be able to face every challenge that comes your way.

I like to think of mental power as, “I Can Do It” power.

This inner superpower that we all can harness is the result of a Magic Formula: being consistently very clear and also very focused.

Just as you train your mind to learn new skills and talents, you must train your mind to believe that you have what it takes: the strength, the ability and the steadiness to make what you want happen.

Beware of roadblocks to your success.

You cannot be mentally together and in control of your destiny when you are distracted, and likewise when you are not absolutely sure of what you want or the choices you have made.

True mental strength is the willingness to take risks with an inner calmness and a sense of humor, knowing that the outcome you face will never mean the end of the world for you. Unwavering mental confidence is the ability to be constantly moving forward in the direction of your goals.

With each challenge you face, you become stronger. Like a climber reaching the top of a mountain, you will overcome your fears when you are willing to take small but decisive steps. Taking charge of your life requires knowing what you want, and simply going out and doing it.

Unleashing Your Unlimited Mind

Feed your mind healthy thoughts, healthy emotions, healthy goals, dreams, and expectations and you will achieve healthy results.” – Elizabeth Upton

You must remember that your mind is always on your side, and never against you. Sometimes dark thoughts can lead us on a negative, self-conscious path. You must learn how to notice when this is happening as early as possible so that you can steer yourself and your thoughts back on the path to happiness.

Remember: it can take three positive thoughts to cancel out a negative thought. If you’re feeling stuck, just take a look around you! Take time to appreciate the weather, remind yourself that you look great today and remember that being alive and healthy is a gift.

You have as much mind power as you are willing to develop, and your precious brain must never be taken for granted. It is a delicate, sensitive organism that needs love, care, attention, rest, healthy food and regular mental exercise. Give it time to think and feed it often with intelligent, positive thoughts.

Your mind also needs silence and space for energy balance and for emotional release. Understanding your mind and what makes it work will keep you feeling alive, exuberant and dynamic. As you grow in this appreciative understanding, you will develop increased mind power, creativity and the ability to focus without distractions. You will discover unlimited resources for creative expression and will feel as if you can take on the world!

The Best Offense is a Great Defense

If you’re concerned about how you may react when negative situations befall you, then the best thing you can do is to prepare. As the saying goes, it’s always good to hope for the best, but to prepare for the worst. You can build your mental toughness and inner strength by pre-empting bad occurrences and mentally preparing yourself to handle them.

A good way to think about this is through sports and athletic training, both activities which foster leadership development and mental power.

In sports, athletes quickly learn that not everything can go the way they want it to at all times. As a soccer player sometimes misses the goal, you may sometimes fail to reach your goals. Just like you have to keep moving on the field, you must always keep moving through life.

Lifehacker agrees, and reminds those seeking happiness that while they can’t control everything that happens to them throughout life, it is possible to control your reaction to it. Always remember this when you are faced with an issue: you can either freak out about it, or use it to find strength.

Always Have Hope

Unfortunately, we are not able to accomplish everything we want to all at once.

Part of life’s beauty is experiencing new challenges and overcoming adversity little by little. It comes down to moving beyond our emotional sufferings and challenges, and choosing how to move forward.  This is the difference between achieving enduring success or temporary superficial success.

To do this, we must adjust our expectations accordingly. There must be an understanding of what success really is, and what inner peace and happiness feels like. When we realize this, we can move beyond the superficial advice; this is not a quick fix.

If you have trouble finding strength within, try finding inspiration elsewhere. We as humans are deeply moved by empowering life stories. Stories about Olympic athletes’ journeys and touching tales of everyday people doing random acts of kindness. It helps to focus on positive encouragement so that you can be inspired, determined and motivated.

Without hope, we as humans die little by little, and the inner flame of life begins to go out.

When you’re feeling down, just remember this: you’ve made it successfully through every challenge you’ve ever faced, and by building your mental strength and exercising your mental power, you always will.
